Crisis responds to Owen Smith’s pledge to end rough sleeping

Crisis welcomes commitment and calls for more 'concrete steps', including support for the Homelessness Reduction Bill in parliament.
Responding, Crisis Chief Executive, Jon Sparkes said: “Owen Smith’s pledge to end rough sleeping within five years is to be welcomed, and we look forward to hearing the detail. However, there are also some immediate concrete steps he can take to help make this a reality. On October 28th, the ‘Homelessness Reduction Bill’ proposed by Bob Blackman MP comes before parliament for its second reading. This bill could make a real difference to the lives of thousands of homeless people by transforming the help available to them from their council, and we call on Mr Smith, as well as Mr Corbyn and MPs of all political persuasions, to back Mr Blackman’s Bill.”
