Voices for Homeless

Putting Lived Experience at the Heart of Ending Homelessness

Created and facilitated by Crisis Skylight Brent, Voices for Homeless is a peer-led group based on the simple truth: people with lived experience know what needs to change.

Their insight, resilience and creativity are essential to creating solutions that actually work. The group ranges from the actively homeless, people who have been homed and people with past and present alcohol and drug dependency. They are here to change the narrative and make sure that the voices of people with lived experience of homelessness are heard across Brent.

So far the group has contributed to Brent Council’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy; inputted on new Council initiatives, developed trauma informed training and presented at the Homelessness Forum, met with key partners and stakeholders in the area and promoted themselves within the community.

As co-production grows across the borough, lived experience will become increasingly central to how decisions are made. When people with lived experience shape services and policies, we move closer to systems that are truly understanding and supportive.

Opportunities

We would love to connect with other peer led projects to build our network and share learning. We are also open to presenting our work at forums and meetings.

Please reach out to Corin: corin.look@crisis.org.uk if you are interested or have any questions.
