“I have one very special, very beautiful flat. I’m never going to forget.”
Eva’s life turned upside down when her husband forced her out of their home. At 63, after losing her job and having no family support, she found herself sleeping on friends' sofas before eventually ending up on the streets.
“I had to leave. For the three days I lived on the road, I never closed my eyes. First, it’s dangerous. Second, you can’t have a shower like a human.”
With your support, Kaz, Eva’s lead worker, was able to support in so many ways. Kaz found Eva a safe shelter, helped her secure a flat and supported with the paperwork. Eva was also able to attend an eye test and Kaz supported her to access the disability payments she was entitled to. All while Eva was attending workshops at Crisis where she made friends and learnt new skills, like how to use a computer and make jewellery.
Little by little, your gifts can change lives in phenomenal ways, this is just one example of how your generous support helps people like Eva rebuild their lives. When someone needs a place to stay, training for a job, help with paperwork or support managing mental health, your ongoing support ensures Crisis are there.
Please consider giving a gift each month to help people like Eva rebuilding their lives, and securing a home for good.
