Lucky for some: Thomas' 7th challenge hits new fundraising milestone
Last updated: 17.03.2026
Thomas has been fundraising for Crisis every year since he was 9 and has raised over £6,000 so far. This year he takes on his toughest challenge yet – to run and cycle a total of 150km in March. He shares his story.
“I’m Thomas and every March I challenge myself to a running and cycling challenge to raise money for Crisis. This is my 7th year and I’ve raised over £6,000 so far.
“I’ve completed a challenge every year since I was 9. Each year my challenge has got harder. This year, I aim to cover a distance of 150km.
“I started my first challenge after meeting Dean, a man experiencing homelessness. He said he became homeless after his Mum died and no longer had anywhere to live.
“His story really affected me and made me want to help people like him. I still think about Dean and wonder how he is doing and hope he’s found a home.
“Looking back, I’m really proud of the amount I’ve raised and how many people I’ve helped. I’ve also helped to raise awareness in the local papers and on the radio too.
“Fundraising is still really important as homelessness continues to rise. If you’re thinking about getting involved, go for it! People are really supportive and generous.”
There are 330,000 families and individuals, like Dean, experiencing homelessness in Britain right now. So this April, we are challenging everyone to take one step for each of them to raise money for Crisis. It’s a great opportunity to get outside and make the most of those longer days.
