Walk to End Homelessness 2026

Following the success of last year's event, Crisis’ Volunteer Fundraising Group in London will once again be recreating the original walk which led to the formation of Crisis in 1967.

The Walk to End Homelessness 2026 will take place on Saturday 10 October, on World Homelessness Day, raising funds and awareness for Crisis’ work to end homelessness today.

Starting at St Barnabas Church in East Ham where the founders of Crisis Bill Shearman, Ron Wotherspoon (local resident), Iain MacLeod (later Chancellor of the Exchequer) and Nick Beacock (a curate at St Barnabas), pictured above - organised the original fundraising event in 1967.

If you'd prefer a shorter challenge, you can join the 6-mile walk, which starts approximately halfway along the route in Limehouse.

The route takes in traditional East London streets before following the Thames through central London and finishing at Hyde Park Corner, where the original walk concluded with a candle-lit rally to raise funds and support for organisations helping people experiencing homelessness in the East End.
